Current Vacancies Overview

WFA is currently seeking qualified candidates for two exciting policy-focused roles:

1. Environmental Policy Officer – Nairobi

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Role Summary:
The Environmental Policy Officer will lead efforts to influence environmental policies that directly or indirectly impact animal welfare. This role requires an individual with expertise in environmental science, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement to advocate for systemic changes promoting sustainability and animal protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze environmental policies at regional, national, and international levels.
  • Develop policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials aligned with WFA’s mission.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations, governments, and UN agencies to advance environmental standards.
  • Support WFA’s participation in international forums and negotiations relevant to environmental and animal welfare issues.

Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in environmental policy analysis, ideally within NGOs or international organizations.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders across government, civil society, and international bodies.
  • Willingness to be based in Nairobi and travel as required.

2. Food Systems Policy Officer – Rome

Location: Rome, Italy

Role Summary:
The Food Systems Policy Officer will focus on shaping policies related to sustainable and ethical food systems, emphasizing animal welfare and environmental sustainability. This role involves strategic policy advocacy, partnership development, and representation at key food and agriculture forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct policy research and develop advocacy materials addressing food systems and animal welfare.
  • Engage with UN agencies, governments, and civil society organizations to influence food system reforms.
  • Monitor global developments in food policy, sustainability, and animal welfare.
  • Represent WFA at relevant conferences, working groups, and multilateral negotiations.

Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Policy, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Studies, or related fields.
  • Experience in policy advocacy related to food systems, sustainability, or animal welfare.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Willingness to be based in Rome and travel as necessary.
