Apply for the Fully-funded to Paris Marianne Initiative 2026 – Support Program for International Human Rights Defenders in France

Applications are now open for the 5th edition of the Marianne Initiative for Human Rights Defenders, scheduled to take place from February to June 2026 in France. The initiative supports non-French human rights defenders by providing resources and networking opportunities to strengthen their work and international outreach.

Launched by the French government, the Marianne Initiative offers a 4-month support program near Paris, designed to empower individuals who are actively involved in promoting and defending human rights in their countries of origin. This includes accommodation, a monthly grant, tailored training, and professional networking with French and international human rights actors.

What the Program Offers

Selected candidates will benefit from a comprehensive support package in France, including:

  • Individual accommodation near Paris for the program duration
  • A monthly grant to cover living expenses
  • A structured training program focused on advocacy, project development, and international collaboration
  • Individualized mentoring and support from human rights experts
  • Access to extensive networking opportunities with key players in the human rights field in France and beyond

The program is set to run from February to June 2026. Please note, no support is provided beyond this 4-month period.
