To further this mission, Aflatoun is seeking a skilled Communications Specialist to support and expand the organization’s global visibility, storytelling, and engagement.
Role Overview
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing digital content, supporting communications campaigns, and promoting the organization’s mission. Reporting to the Communications Manager, this role offers significant creative ownership and a chance to work in a multicultural, mission-driven team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Development and Strategy
- Write, edit, and proofread content for the website, blog, newsletters, and publications.
- Create compelling storytelling pieces highlighting programme success and impact.
- Collaborate with programme teams to source and showcase partner and beneficiary stories.
- Design and update promotional and presentation materials as needed.
2. Digital Communication and Social Media
- Manage daily social media activities and community engagement across platforms.
- Maintain website content and support technical updates in coordination with developers.
- Assist in creating, scheduling, and monitoring email marketing campaigns and automation flows.
3. Campaigns and Event Support
- Coordinate communications for campaigns and both in-person and virtual events.
- Develop promotional collateral and manage live social media coverage.
- Assist with virtual event logistics, content production, and technical execution.
- Draft post-event reports and engagement summaries.
4. Administrative and Strategic Support
- Participate in strategic communications planning and team coordination.
- Contribute to grant proposals, donor reports, and fundraising communications.
- Support stakeholder outreach and relationship-building initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Outstanding written and spoken English communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
- Experience with WordPress, email marketing (Mailchimp), and CRM platforms.
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.
- Basic design and multimedia editing skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) preferred.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and web analytics tools.
- Additional languages (especially French, Spanish, or Russian) are an asset.
- Interest in education, youth development, or international development is a plus.
Employment Conditions
This is a full-time remote position. The salary is based on the local pay scale and reflects the candidate’s experience and academic background. Aflatoun International offers a dynamic, inclusive work environment with opportunities for professional growth.
