The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is inviting applications for a highly motivated and experienced Communications Officer to support its global mission of delivering quality education to every child. Reporting to the Communications Lead, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape public discourse and influence education policy at both global and national levels.
This position plays a critical role in the design, execution, and management of GPE’s communications and outreach strategies, with a particular focus on the GPE 2030 Replenishment Campaign, scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2025. The campaign is an ambitious global initiative aimed at securing increased funding and international support for education in the world’s lowest-income countries.
About GPE
GPE is the only global fund dedicated exclusively to improving education in the world’s poorest countries. It brings together governments, multilateral organizations, civil society, teacher organizations, and the private sector to strengthen education systems and ensure inclusive, quality education for every child—especially girls and vulnerable populations affected by conflict or crisis.
Role Overview
The Communications Officer will be responsible for leading and supporting the development of communications products, managing outreach campaigns, and ensuring the successful execution of public-facing initiatives. The role requires a proactive, organized, and innovative professional with a solid understanding of international development, media trends, and campaign-driven communication.
Key Responsibilities
1. Campaign Strategy and Implementation
- Contribute to the planning and rollout of the GPE 2030 Replenishment Campaign across global and national platforms.
- Support messaging strategy and tailor communication tools to target donors, partners, policymakers, and the public.
- Work collaboratively with other GPE teams to align communications with the campaign’s fundraising, policy, and advocacy goals.
2. Content Creation and Dissemination
- Draft and edit a range of materials, including press releases, blog posts, talking points, media toolkits, fact sheets, and newsletters.
- Develop visual and multimedia content in coordination with graphic designers and digital teams.
- Ensure that communications materials reflect GPE’s brand and values and are accessible to diverse audiences.
3. Media and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with media representatives, influencers, and communication focal points in GPE’s partner countries.
- Monitor press coverage and coordinate responses to media inquiries.
- Assist in organizing media briefings, interviews, and public engagements around the campaign’s major milestones.
4. Project Management and Coordination
- Track timelines, deliverables, and budgets for communication projects.
- Coordinate with GPE’s country leads and external consultants/agencies to ensure on-time and high-quality execution.
- Contribute to regular progress reports and internal briefings on communication activities.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience:
- A university degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in strategic communications, preferably in an international development or global campaign context.
Key Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French or other GPE working languages is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex communication campaigns with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent project management, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Familiarity with digital tools, social media platforms, and basic content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Experience working in a multicultural, global organization is highly desirable.
Work Location
This position will be based in Paris or Brussels, offering the opportunity to work closely with other GPE Secretariat members and partners in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
