Role Overview

IPPF is seeking a dynamic and senior international health, human rights, or development professional to serve as the Regional Director for the Africa Region (IPPFAR). This pivotal role is part of the Global Leadership Team and reports directly to the Director-General. The Regional Director will be responsible for leading and managing the Africa region, driving the implementation of IPPF’s Strategy 2028, and partnering with Member Associations and Collaborative Partners to advance SRHR across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of regional strategies aligned with IPPF’s global objectives, ensuring relevance to the unique contexts of African countries.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of IPPFAR, ensuring effective delivery of programs and services in the region.
  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Member Associations, Collaborative Partners, donors, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and resource mobilization.
  • Advocacy and Representation: Serve as a visible advocate and thought leader for SRHR across the region, representing IPPF in regional forums and influencing policy and public opinion.
  • Team Management: Foster a culture of teamwork, inclusivity, and excellence within the regional office, providing leadership and support to staff.
  • Resource Mobilization: Oversee the development of funding proposals and manage donor relationships to secure financial support for regional initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive Experience: Proven track record in senior leadership roles within international health, human rights, or development organizations, with significant experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and execute strategies that address complex challenges and opportunities in the SRHR landscape.
  • Operational Expertise: Strong skills in managing large, diverse teams and overseeing complex programs and budgets.
  • Advocacy Skills: Experience in influencing policy and public opinion on SRHR issues at regional and international levels.
  • Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of the political, social, and cultural dynamics of African countries, with sensitivity to local contexts.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and French is essential.
