Position Overview
BSF is seeking a dynamic Finance Manager to be based in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. This role is integral to the organization’s operations in Nigeria, particularly in the implementation of projects aimed at combating sexual violence in conflict zones. The Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the effective financial management of BSF’s activities in the region, in compliance with both internal policies and donor regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Operations Management
- Oversee and manage daily accounting and finance functions, including transaction recording, cash management, banking, tax obligations, payroll, inventory, receivables, and payables.
- Implement systems for financial operations in accordance with BSF’s Field Finance Manual and donor regulations, covering areas such as cash flow management, budgeting, consolidation of accounting information, internal controls, financial reporting, and record-keeping.
- Coordinate with project managers to provide consolidated accounting and financial information for country projects.
- Review purchase requests, purchase orders, and payment requests to ensure compliance with BSF policies and procedures and project budgets.
- Monitor advance accounts and accrual and suspense accounts, ensuring regular reconciliation.
- Maintain banking relations and plan and monitor country cash flow requirements to ensure smooth program implementation.
- Grant Management and Compliance
- Ensure accurate planning and on-budget spending of funded initiatives.
- Develop and implement grant budgeting and forecasting systems with project managers.
- Provide monthly financial management reports to the Country Representative and Project Managers, including budget vs. actual reports and other financial information.
- Perform internal audits and reviews as required to ensure compliance with BSF and donor requirements.
- Lead budget development for new initiatives, ensuring realistic and complete budgets in the required format.
- Policy Development and Staff Training
- Develop and maintain local office policies and procedures related to financial matters.
- Provide training for staff on financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and capacity building.
- Ensure compliance with BSF procurement policies and procedures for all goods and services.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of four (4) years of verifiable post-NYSC work experience primarily in the accounting function.
- A B.Sc or HND in Accounting, Finance, Banking & Finance, or a related field.
- Chartered Accountant status or evidence of commencement and (obtaining pass grade) of the relevant exam(s) is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word and Excel).
- Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Good knowledge of regulatory remittances.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting methodologies and tools.

Recruitment Conditions
- Type of Contract: Full-time fixed-term contract under Nigerian law.
- Start Date: July 1st, 2025.
- Contract Duration: 5 months (renewable based on funding opportunities and performance).
- Duty Station: Maiduguri, with possible mobility to other communities in Borno State depending on the security situation.
