SoCreative eLearning Micro-Grants Now Open for Applications
The British Council has launched a new round of SoCreative eLearning Micro-Grants, offering £1,000 in funding to support creative hubs, festivals, and community-based organisations across Sub-Saharan Africa. These micro-grants are aimed at empowering creative communities by integrating the SoCreative eLearning platform into existing programmes, thereby expanding access to entrepreneurial learning and skills development opportunities.

The grants are intended to help organisations deepen their impact by supporting initiatives such as learner onboarding, training workshops, networking events, and other activities that promote community engagement and capacity-building. Whether facilitating structured learning sessions or informal knowledge-sharing events, the funding allows creative organisations to bring value to their members through structured, accessible entrepreneurial education.
By supporting the incorporation of SoCreative eLearning into grassroots-level programmes, the British Council is enabling more young creatives to participate in a dynamic and collaborative learning environment. The goal is to build stronger, more sustainable ecosystems in which young entrepreneurs can thrive.
About SoCreative eLearning
The SoCreative eLearning programme is a free, online educational initiative designed for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs across Africa. It offers a curated collection of courses tailored to support young creatives on their business journey. The platform addresses key areas of entrepreneurship, including business planning, marketing, financial literacy, and leadership, with a focus on practical skills and real-world application.
This programme forms part of the British Council’s broader Creative Economy strategy, which is dedicated to nurturing an environment where innovation, culture, and enterprise intersect. By enhancing access to knowledge and resources, the British Council aims to drive inclusive economic growth through creativity and collaboration.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include:

Applicants must be based in Sub-Saharan Africa and have an active interest in supporting creative entrepreneurship within their communities. Organisations should demonstrate a clear plan for how the micro-grant will support their efforts to introduce or scale up the use of the SoCreative eLearning platform.
How Can the Grant Be Used?
The £1,000 micro-grant can be used flexibly to:
- Onboard new learners to the SoCreative platform
- Host in-person or virtual training workshops
- Facilitate peer-to-peer learning or mentoring sessions
- Organise networking events to connect learners with local creative professionals
- Promote awareness of the platform through outreach and communications
Each initiative should aim to strengthen learning outcomes, improve digital engagement, and foster entrepreneurial mindsets within the creative community.
