Equality Fund is Hiring: Program Officer, Global Programs (Remote within Canada)

The Equality Fund (EF) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Officer to join its Global Programs team. This full-time, indefinite position is remote within Canada and reports directly to the Director of Program Strategy. The role is ideal for a dynamic professional committed to advancing global gender equity and resourcing feminist movements. Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
Salary Range: CAD $87,000–90,000

The Opportunity
The Program Officer plays a central role in analyzing global trends related to women’s rights and feminist movements—particularly in the Middle East, North Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Balkans. They will help design and manage grantmaking systems, maintain strong partnerships, and implement participatory feminist approaches.
The successful candidate will contribute to capacity-building initiatives, support grantee partners, and ensure compliance with donor and organizational requirements. The role includes direct engagement with feminist networks, regional actors, and civil society organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Partnerships and Grantmaking
- Maintain strong knowledge of global feminist trends and regional developments in EF’s focus areas, especially LGBTQI, youth, disability, and climate justice movements.
- Design and manage grantmaking portfolios, including planning, reporting, and supporting implementation with grantee partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for grantee organizations, nurturing collaborative and trust-based relationships.
- Support the participation of grassroots partners in advocacy and resourcing dialogues within international forums, philanthropy, and policy circles.
- Collaborate internally across EF teams and externally with sister funds and partners to strengthen the feminist funding ecosystem.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
- Contribute to the development of feminist MEL systems in collaboration with the Learning and Impact team.
- Document and share progress, lessons learned, and success stories with funders and stakeholders.
- Support preparation of key deliverables including work plans, budgets, reports, and donor communications.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Contribute to internal learning by documenting program experiences and supporting communications needs.
- Assist in onboarding and mentoring new team members, particularly in remote and multi-time-zone environments.
- Uphold EF’s code of conduct and foster a safe, respectful workplace free of harassment or exploitation.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of grantmaking or relevant programmatic experience in international development, feminist organizing, or gender equity.
- In-depth knowledge of Middle East and North Africa feminist movements is required; experience in Central and Eastern Europe or the Balkans is an asset.
- Proven understanding of intersectionality, systems thinking, and feminist methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in building collaborative partnerships with activists, donors, and community organizations.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (spoken and written).
- Familiarity with program evaluation and learning systems (both qualitative and quantitative methods is a plus).
- Strong digital literacy, including GSuite, Microsoft Office, and CRM/reporting tools.
