LM International (Läkarmissionen), a Swedish global foundation grounded in Christian values, is seeking a strategic and experienced Program Manager to lead its country programme in Kenya. Role Overview
The Program Manager will be responsible for leading the strategic direction, implementation, and growth of LM International’s programmes in Kenya. This leadership position requires a highly motivated professional with extensive experience in programme and partnership management, donor engagement, and strategic planning within the INGO sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Leadership & Strategy: Guide the strategic planning and implementation of the Kenya Country Programme in alignment with LM International’s global mission, vision, and goals.
- Partnerships & Donor Relations: Manage and nurture relationships with local and international partners, donors, and stakeholders. Expand LM International’s donor base and support proposal development.
- Programme Quality & Compliance: Ensure high-quality programme delivery through innovation, learning, documentation, and compliance with international standards and donor requirements.
- Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets and ensure transparent financial reporting and accountability.
- External Representation & Advocacy: Act as the country representative, promoting LM International’s profile in national forums such as the PBO Forum and donor coordination meetings. Build strategic relationships with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and the private sector.
- Growth & Resource Mobilization: Identify new programme opportunities and develop funding proposals to scale successful initiatives and expand impact.
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in international NGOs, including strategic planning, programme development, and senior-level management.
- Proven track record of securing and managing donor funding, particularly with Sida, DANIDA, EU, ECW, FCDO, BMZ, and GIZ.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, and compliance.
- Deep understanding of Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA), localisation strategies, and MEAL frameworks.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead diverse teams and represent the organization in public forums.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili (both spoken and written).
- Experience in media relations, acting as an organizational spokesperson, and managing national media visibility.
- High proficiency in digital tools including Office365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), and mobile productivity applications.
Desirable Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in development studies, human rights, international relations, public administration, or a technical area related to LM International’s thematic priorities.
- Experience in the water and education sectors.
- Familiarity with Lime CRM and previous work with faith-based organizations.
Additional Information
- This position is open to Kenyan and East African Community nationals legally eligible to work in Kenya.
- The contract is a 2-year fixed term, with a 3-month probation and potential for extension.
- The role involves domestic and international travel.
