Gender at Work (G@W) is Calling for Applications: Early-Career Consultants Training Programme in Gender, Inclusion, Disability & AI 2025

Gender at Work (G@W) and Ladysmith are inviting early-career consultants from Africa to apply for a transformative 16-month training programme commencing in August 2025. This initiative focuses on equipping consultants with the skills and knowledge to enhance gender equality, disability inclusion, and organizational development through the lens of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Programme Overview
The training programme is structured around three core components:
- Practical Experience: Accompany seasoned consultants as they collaborate with research teams from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Artificial Intelligence for Development (AI4D) programme.
- Academic Learning: Engage with curated readings on topics such as gender, organizational change, and the intersection of AI with social equity.
- Reflective Practice: Participate in regular reflection sessions with a senior G@W associate to consolidate learning and personal development.
Throughout the programme, participants will be introduced to G@W’s Gender Action Learning (GAL) methodology and Ladysmith’s facilitation approaches, fostering a comprehensive understanding of transformative change processes.
Eligibility Criteria
This opportunity is ideal for early-career consultants who:
- Possess a background in gender and inclusion studies.
- Demonstrate experience in facilitation and capacity-building.
- Exhibit a willingness to explore and understand the role of AI in development contexts.
- Are open to challenging personal assumptions and engaging with diverse perspectives.
- Reside in an African country.
- Are proficient in English; proficiency in French is advantageous but not mandatory.
Stipend and Commitment
Participants will receive a stipend of $3,200 CAD over the 16-month period. The programme requires an estimated commitment of 8 days per year, distributed across various activities, including workshops, readings, and reflection sessions.
