The BackPack-Excellence Scholarship for Women is a full scholarship designed to support highly talented women who aspire to become influential leaders. It aims to break down barriers that may have made pursuing an MBA seem unattainable, such as financial constraints, family responsibilities, or professional interruptions.

This scholarship covers full tuition fees and living expenses, enabling recipients to fully focus on their MBA journey and leadership development.

Purpose and Impact

This scholarship’s mission is to create a fairer playing field for women with leadership potential but limited access to opportunities. By providing financial support alongside essential skills, networks, and confidence-building, it prepares women to lead effectively in business, public sectors, and beyond.

The BackPack Foundation envisions scholarship recipients as catalysts for change, inspiring a ripple effect that encourages more women to step into leadership roles.

Eligibility and Application Process

• How to Apply:
  Applications are submitted through the MBA admissions application form, with a dedicated scholarship section for the BackPack-Excellence Scholarship.
• Deadline:
  Applications must be submitted by 15 July.
• Application Requirements:
  1. A 500-word essay addressing the question:
     “What pressing challenge, whether in your community or more broadly, are you most passionate about addressing? How do you think a BackPack-supported MBA at IMD will enable you to contribute to addressing that challenge?”
  2. A 90-120 second video sharing a moment when the applicant embodied one or more of the BackPack Foundation’s core values: Share, Dare, and Care.

• Additional Notes:
  • Multiple scholarship applications are permitted, but scholarships are non-cumulative—only one scholarship can be awarded per candidate.
  • The scholarship is intended for candidates who are not company-sponsored.
• Selection:
  Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a BackPack assessment.
