The South Africa Multi-Country Office (SAMCO) based in Pretoria supports five countries: South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Eswatini.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager and under guidance from the Regional HR Business Partner (ESARO), the Human Resources Associate provides administrative and logistical support for recruitment, staff benefits, contracts, onboarding, payroll, performance management, and staff separation in compliance with UN Women policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Policy Implementation: Apply HR strategies, provide staff with information on policies, and handle HR-related queries.
  • HR Administration: Manage contracts, benefits, payroll processing, leave management, and vendor entries.
  • Recruitment Support: Draft job descriptions, screen candidates, participate in interview panels, and prepare recruitment documentation.
  • Performance & Learning: Support staff performance appraisals and coordinate learning and development plans.
  • Data Management: Maintain confidential HR databases, generate reports, and update HR systems.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Organize workshops, orientations, and share HR best practices globally.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum: High school certificate with at least 6 years of relevant office administration or HR experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or Public Administration is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office and preferably experience with Oracle Cloud or similar ERP systems.
  • Fluency in English required; knowledge of other UN languages advantageous.
