Internship Opportunity 2025: Program and Grant Assistant (RED DESK) – Solidarités International

SI’s mission focuses on addressing urgent needs related to water, sanitation, hygiene (WaSH), food security, and shelter. Internship Overview

SI is seeking a highly motivated Program and Grant Assistant Intern to join its RED Desk team at headquarters. The selected intern will support the management and coordination of programs in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Nigeria, and South Sudan.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the functioning of an international humanitarian NGO, participate in HQ-level operations, and understand the coordination between field missions and headquarters. Interns will work under the supervision of the Desk Manager, Programs Manager, and Grants Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative tasks and operational monitoring of programs.
  • Support proposal writing and project reporting processes.
  • Monitor project progress, including reporting deadlines, extensions, and donor requirements.
  • Archive and maintain updated project documentation (reports, contracts, organograms).
  • Liaise with SI field missions and other departments (HR, Logistics, Communications).
  • Update resources such as country profiles, expat information packs, and contact databases.
  • Track geopolitical and humanitarian developments in the countries under the RED Desk.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the internship, participants will:

  • Understand project cycle management and technical tools used in humanitarian programming.
  • Gain exposure to SI’s internal procedures and donor compliance frameworks.
  • Learn how HQ operations support field missions in real-time humanitarian response.
  • Acquire familiarity with major institutional donors and proposal development standards.
  • Develop communication, critical analysis, and coordination skills in a multicultural environment.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a Master’s degree in Humanitarian Action, International Relations, Development Studies, WaSH, Agronomy, or related fields.
  • Fluent in French (spoken and written) and proficient in English (C1/C2).
  • Strong commitment to humanitarian values and SI’s mission.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, autonomy, adaptability, and capacity to handle tight deadlines.
  • Strong interest in working in the field in future humanitarian missions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior international or volunteer experience in NGOs is a plus.
  • This internship requires a valid internship agreement with a university.

Conditions and Benefits

  • Internship based at Solidarités International’s headquarters in Clichy (92), France.
  • Legal monthly allowance: €5.60/hour (approx. €860/month for full-time).
  • Coverage of 50% of transportation costs (Navigo pass).
  • 60% coverage of lunch ticket costs (meal vouchers valued at €8.90/day).
  • 2 paid leave days per month.
  • Participation in internal training, including pre-departure training for field staff.
