GiveDirectly (GD) is Hiring a Manager, Partnerships & Philanthropy – (100% Remote)

Manager, Partnerships & Philanthropy (100% Remote)

GiveDirectly, a leading nonprofit organization reshaping international aid by delivering cash transfers directly to the world’s poorest, is seeking a highly motivated Manager for Partnerships & Philanthropy to join their dynamic team. This fully remote position requires candidates to have at least a three-hour overlap with GiveDirectly’s teams in East Africa.

About GiveDirectly

GiveDirectly’s mission is ambitious: to eliminate extreme poverty by establishing unconditional cash transfers as a benchmark for international aid. While the global aid sector spends approximately $135 billion annually, much of this funding supports interventions lacking strong evidence of impact. The Brookings Institution estimates that $70 billion in cash transfers could close the global poverty gap, and GiveDirectly strives to accelerate this transformation by pioneering effective, evidence-backed giving.

Since its launch in 2011, GiveDirectly has raised over $1 billion and delivered direct cash assistance to more than 1.5 million individuals across 15 countries. Their programs have been validated through large-scale research demonstrating significant positive impacts on recipients’ lives. Recognized as one of the most innovative nonprofits by Fast Company and featured in major media outlets including The New York Times Magazine, Foreign Affairs, and The Economist, GiveDirectly combines rigorous data-driven decision-making with a deeply human-centered approach.

The organization’s culture is candid, analytical, and agile, featuring a non-hierarchical structure and a diverse global workforce. Approximately 150 team members across various functions collaborate with 650 country operations staff in 21 countries, speaking 69 languages. Their staff bring varied backgrounds ranging from private sector experience to humanitarian work, research, and technology, united by a shared commitment to impact.

Role Overview

The Manager, Partnerships & Philanthropy plays a critical role in driving GiveDirectly’s fundraising efforts through the development and management of funding partnerships with philanthropists, foundations, and institutional donors.

This role supports GiveDirectly’s programmatic and product teams by cultivating new and recurring funding sources, managing major grants and gift reporting, and overseeing the proposal development pipeline.

Reporting to the Partnerships Director, this manager will be involved in crafting high-quality funding proposals, coordinating donor communications, managing fundraising analytics, and participating in special projects aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project and Fundraising Support:
Collaborate with country and global teams to identify and engage donor leads. Produce compelling, brand-aligned pitch materials including decks and proposals to secure new funding. Support outreach efforts led by senior management with targeted donor communications.

  • Reporting and Analytics:
Monitor and report on fundraising pipeline health, revenue projections, and donor engagement metrics. Work closely with the VP of Partnerships & Philanthropy to deliver timely reports and support data-driven fundraising strategies. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance reporting systems and analytics tools.
  • Relationship Management:
Maintain and deepen relationships with existing donors, ensuring alignment with their strategic priorities through ongoing communications and customized reporting. Develop systems to scale best practices in relationship management and grants administration.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be deeply aligned with GiveDirectly’s mission and values, demonstrating a strong commitment to social impact and inclusivity. Candidates are expected to bring:

  • At least four years of relevant experience in partnership development, philanthropy, fundraising, or a related field within top-tier private, public, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex ideas for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with a solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to navigate fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
  • An interest in data analytics and comfort working with quantitative information to inform fundraising strategies.
  • Emotional intelligence, openness to feedback, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Personal or professional experience related to low-income or marginalized communities is highly valued.
