GARDP collaborates with public and private partners to ensure treatments are effective, affordable, and sustainably accessible, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The organization champions responsible use of antibiotics to combat the growing public health challenge of antibiotic resistance.
Role Overview
The SECURE Project Lead will head GARDP’s contributions to the SECURE initiative a partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) aimed at improving access to effective antibiotics in LMICs. Now transitioning to the implementation phase, SECURE focuses on optimizing antibiotic portfolios, securing supply chains, improving purchasing transparency, and safeguarding antibiotic effectiveness.
The Project Lead will play a central role in managing this initiative’s multi-stakeholder partnerships, strategy refinement, and implementation of market shaping and access interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead GARDP’s involvement and strategic contributions to the SECURE initiative in partnership with WHO.
- Manage and coordinate multi-organizational collaboration, including internal coordination within GARDP (Executive Office, Business Development, Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls).
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with national governments and regional entities.
- Design and implement specific SECURE interventions focused on market shaping and access.
- Lead the core SECURE working group alongside WHO and other partners.
- Refine and support the deployment of SECURE tools, such as forecasting models, incorporating user feedback.
- Contribute to antibiotic market shaping efforts and related working groups.
- Oversee economic analyses to evaluate SECURE’s impact and support interventions.
- Collaborate with GARDP’s External Affairs team on communications and resource mobilization.
- Monitor and report on progress, milestones, and deliverables related to SECURE activities.
- Represent GARDP at conferences, bilateral meetings, and external stakeholder events.
- Support the Global Access team with broader strategic and operational needs.
- Assist in producing reports and manuscripts for publication.
Reporting and Collaboration
- Reports directly to the Director of Global Access.
- Works collaboratively across multiple teams: Access, Business Development, and External Affairs.
- Promotes GARDP’s mission and maintains productive, credible relationships with partners and stakeholders.

Education and Experience
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in drug distribution, procurement, pricing, or access to medicines, ideally within LMIC contexts.
- Proven experience developing and implementing market shaping interventions in healthcare.
- Understanding and experience in conducting health economic analyses.
- Broad knowledge of drug development and access processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects in dynamic environments.
- Strategic thinker with operational insight and leadership ability.
- Commitment to quality and mission-driven work.
Language and Technical Requirements
- Fluency in English with excellent writing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with project management tools is advantageous.
