ICCCAD is Seeking an Assistant Project Manager – Climate Resilience & Adaptation (CAP-RES) – Apply by June 15, 2025

Organizational Background

The International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), located at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), is a globally acknowledged center of excellence dedicated to climate change research, policy development, and capacity-building particularly within the Global South. ICCCAD is a pioneer in promoting Locally Led Adaptation (LLA), Loss and Damage (L&D), and climate justice, advocating for inclusive, equitable, and community-based climate solutions through research, learning, and partnerships.

Position Overview

ICCCAD is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the implementation of the CAP-RES (Capacity Strengthening of Multi-Actors to Limit Climate Change Impacts and Enhance Resilience) project. The ideal candidate will contribute to effective project execution through robust technical coordination, administrative oversight, partner engagement, and donor communications.

The successful candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience, particularly with national or international NGOs, and demonstrate strong capabilities in project management, team supervision, and multitasking especially in the field of climate change adaptation and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Coordination

  • Assist in developing and executing the annual work plan and strategic implementation framework for the CAP-RES project.
  • Oversee daily project activities, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Support the Project Manager by providing regular technical and operational updates.

Financial Monitoring and Budget Oversight

  • Track project expenditures and ensure alignment with budget forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to conduct financial planning and annual budget reviews.

Technical Assistance and Capacity Building

  • Identify capacity development gaps among stakeholders and local partners.
  • Facilitate training workshops and provide hands-on technical support tailored to local community and institutional needs.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Management

  • Maintain effective communication with project partners, community groups, and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate collaborative activities among diverse actors to ensure synergy and cohesive project delivery.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Monitor progress through regular field visits and team check-ins.
  • Contribute to drafting detailed event reports, quarterly updates, and comprehensive annual reports to share with donors and partners.

Administrative and Operational Support

  • Act as a liaison between project teams and cross-functional departments (HR, finance, procurement, communications, IT) to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including concept notes, briefs, training materials, and presentations.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Studies, Development Studies, Geography and Environment, or another relevant field related to climate resilience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management or climate change-focused roles within national or international NGOs.
  • Deep understanding of climate change impacts, with particular focus on community-based adaptation and resilience-building.
  • Proficient in budget tracking, project coordination, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bangla.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with donor communications, proposal writing, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) procedures will be considered a significant advantage.

  • A monthly stipend will be provided in accordance with ICCCAD’s compensation framework.
