Purpose and Vision
The Youth Advisory Board aims to cultivate a diverse and dynamic group of young leaders from across Canada who are passionate about multilateralism, international cooperation, and sustainable development. Through quarterly virtual meetings with officials from the Permanent Mission, members will actively share insights, ideas, and recommendations that help shape Canada’s engagement within the United Nations system.
In line with Canada’s commitment to inclusivity and youth empowerment, the Advisory Board reflects the government’s recognition that young people are essential stakeholders in international policymaking. Roles and Responsibilities
Selected Youth Advisory Board members will serve for one term spanning from 2025 to 2026. During this time, they will:
- Participate in quarterly virtual meetings with Permanent Mission officials to discuss Canada’s work and priorities at the United Nations.
- Provide thoughtful feedback and perspectives on evolving global issues and Canada’s multilateral strategies.
- Collaborate with fellow board members to develop initiatives that promote youth engagement and awareness of international diplomacy.
- Act as ambassadors for youth voices by helping to communicate key themes and outcomes from the Advisory Board to their local communities and networks.
- Support outreach efforts to encourage greater youth participation in international affairs across Canada.

The Youth Advisory Board seeks applications from young Canadians aged 18 to 30 who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, a commitment to public service, and a genuine interest in multilateralism and international relations. Ideal candidates are those who:

- Have experience in youth leadership, community organizing, advocacy, or related fields.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of officials from the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations and youth engagement experts. The committee will evaluate candidates based on their leadership potential, commitment to the mission’s goals, diversity of background and experience, and ability to collaborate effectively in a virtual setting.
Successful candidates will be notified in late summer 2025 and will receive orientation prior to the first Advisory Board meeting.
