Position Overview
The Marketing and Communications Officer plays a vital role within ForAfrika’s Marketing and Communications Division, acting as a crucial bridge between the Marcoms team and other departments across the organization. This position is instrumental in ensuring the seamless execution of projects and campaigns that support ForAfrika’s mission to drive sustainable development across Africa.
The officer is responsible for interpreting marketing briefs, coordinating project timelines, and delivering high-quality communications outputs that resonate with diverse audiences. In addition, the role contributes to the formulation and implementation of strategic marketing initiatives that elevate ForAfrika’s visibility and amplify its impact in the humanitarian and development sectors throughout the continent.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Coordination and Internal Liaison
- Serve as the central contact point for all marketing and communications requests across ForAfrika’s divisions and country offices.
- Interpret incoming briefs and translate them into detailed work plans with clear timelines, coordinating closely with Marcoms colleagues.
- Ensure effective allocation and tracking of tasks within the team to guarantee timely delivery of projects.
- Monitor ongoing projects to identify and address bottlenecks, ensuring smooth workflow and alignment across departments.
- Maintain and update shared project management platforms (e.g., Monday.com, SharePoint) to enhance visibility and coordination.
- Facilitate communication with country offices and divisional teams by providing regular updates, flagging delays, and scheduling follow-ups, fostering transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Marketing and Campaign Support
- Assist in the implementation of integrated marketing and communications plans tailored to ForAfrika’s Humanitarian & Development, Social Enterprise divisions, and country-specific initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of campaign content and marketing materials aligned with programme objectives and strategic priorities.
- Provide writing and design assistance for various deliverables including newsletters, flyers, donor reports, and digital campaigns, utilizing tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Support internal marketing efforts, including staff communications, announcements, and event promotions.
- Participate in planning and managing digital marketing campaigns, including social media advertising and paid promotions, with experience in platforms like Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads considered advantageous. Familiarity with SEO principles is an additional benefit.
3. Editorial and Internal Communications Support
- Edit and proofread internal documents, campaign materials, and donor-facing reports to ensure consistency, clarity, and brand adherence.
- Assist in producing internal newsletters and updates by collecting stories and insights from country teams, divisions, and affiliates.
- Collaborate with the Marcoms team to craft and distribute internal communications that foster alignment, engagement, and a positive organizational culture.
4. Content Creation and Asset Management
- Support the creation of multimedia content such as video clips, social media posts, and graphics for both internal use and external campaigns.
- Coordinate or assist in producing visual assets for events, campaigns, and donor engagement activities.
5. Innovation and Digital Awareness
- Stay current with emerging trends in digital media, content creation tools, and communication practices to continuously enhance ForAfrika’s marketing capabilities.
- Propose innovative ideas to improve digital engagement, user experience, and campaign effectiveness.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Education and Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in marketing or communications, preferably within a non-profit or development context.
- Proven expertise in writing, editing, and producing marketing and communications materials targeting diverse audiences.
- Experience in managing briefs and coordinating multi-stakeholder content or campaigns.
- Familiarity with the humanitarian and development landscape in Africa is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail and tone.
- Proficiency in digital content creation platforms such as Canva and Adobe InDesign.
- Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp), social media management, and basic video editing software.
- Strong project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Understanding of internal communications processes, including newsletter and campaign development.
- Comfortable using cloud-based collaboration tools like Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
