Position Overview
The Regional Grant Coordinator will lead and coordinate the implementation of the BLOOM project across selected countries in East Africa. Reporting to the BLOOM Grant Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that project activities are effectively executed, aligned with project goals, and delivered on schedule. The role involves 50% coordination responsibilities and close collaboration with field teams, World Vision Canada, and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Coordination
- Serve as the primary contact for all regional BLOOM project activities.
- Ensure timely and effective communication between field teams, the Grant Manager, and implementation partners.
- Support field teams in maintaining project timelines and delivering outcomes.
- Work with Finance Focal Points to monitor budget execution and reporting.
- Align BLOOM implementation with other youth-focused initiatives, particularly the Vision for Vulnerable Youth Initiative (VVYI – Youth Ready).
2. Partnership Development
- Support country teams in establishing partnerships with vocational institutions, microfinance organizations, businesses, and corporates.
- Position BLOOM as a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by facilitating collaborations in employment, training, and internships.
- Drive the development of sustainable economic empowerment opportunities for youth, including access to education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
3. Capacity Building
- Strengthen the capacity of local teams and partners through training, guidance, and support in strategic planning.
- Collaborate with the VVYI team to enhance technical capacity in youth engagement and project delivery.
4. Networking and Event Management
- Support the planning and execution of regional events such as job fairs, entrepreneurship expos, education showcases, and mentorship initiatives.
- Represent BLOOM in relevant regional and international forums to advocate for youth empowerment.
- Facilitate the establishment of regional youth networks, including the East African Youth Alliance, and support their ongoing development.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)
- Assist field teams in data reporting and implementing performance measurement frameworks.
- Monitor project impact and assess partnership effectiveness.
- Provide data-driven recommendations for enhancing engagement strategies and sustainability.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least seven years of experience in project management and overseeing grant-funded development initiatives.
- Solid understanding of donor requirements, especially those of Global Affairs Canada.
- Experience managing multi-country projects and supporting diverse, decentralized field teams.
- Proven success in partnership development and stakeholder engagement.
- Background in youth-focused programming related to education, employment, or economic empowerment.
- Familiarity with MEAL frameworks and donor reporting standards.
- Strong coordination, communication, and leadership skills.
Additional Requirements
- Must be based in one of the East African countries where BLOOM is implemented (Rwanda, Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia, Burundi, or Kenya) and affiliated with a World Vision Field Office.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Swahili, Kinyarwanda, or Somali is a plus.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to twice per year, including to potentially high-risk locations.
