About Addis Forum 2025

The Addis Forum 2025 is a premier national youth movement dedicated to fostering peacebuilding, intergenerational dialogue, and meaningful civic engagement across Ethiopia. Centered on the theme “Youth Building a Legacy of Unity & Peaceful Coexistence Through Meaningful Civic Engagement,” the forum convenes young leaders alongside government officials, policymakers, elders, religious and community leaders, academia, the private sector, and development partners to address Ethiopia’s most pressing challenges.

Scheduled for October 24 to 26, 2025, the event is organized by the Ethiopian Youth Dialogue for Peace Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX), Create Ethiopian, and the Bahá’í International Community Addis Ababa Office.

The forum provides an inclusive platform for cross-generational dialogue on topics such as:

  • Peacebuilding and youth involvement in peace and security
  • Civic engagement and peaceful elections
  • Interfaith dialogue and combating hate speech and disinformation
  • Climate change and environmental sustainability
  • Job creation, innovation, and technology
  • Mental health awareness
  • National solidarity during crises
  • Women’s leadership and empowerment

By encouraging consensus-building, policy advocacy, and collaborative action, Addis Forum 2025 empowers young Ethiopians to become proactive architects of a peaceful, prosperous future.

Participation Details

Addis Forum 2025 will adopt a hybrid format, gathering over 2,250 delegates, including:

  • 250 participants attending in person at AFLEX
  • Over 2,000 participants joining virtually

This format reinforces the vital role of youth in shaping Ethiopia’s democratic and developmental trajectory while ensuring wide accessibility.

Commitment Fee and Selection Process

Although the Addis Forum offers a fully funded experience, all applicants are required to pay a non-refundable commitment fee of 1,749 Birr. This fee serves as a demonstration of genuine interest and helps cover logistical costs associated with hosting the 250 in-person delegates.

  • Fee Purpose: Supports venue arrangements, materials, and participant services
  • Selection Process: Applications will be rigorously reviewed by a selection board through a competitive screening process
  • Virtual Participation: Applicants not selected for in-person attendance will have the opportunity to participate virtually and receive a digital certificate of participation

Note: Payment of the commitment fee does not guarantee selection. Admission is based solely on the strength and quality of the application responses.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Aged between 18 and 40 years old
  • Responsible, motivated students or young leaders passionate about Ethiopia’s peacebuilding efforts
  • Committed to contributing toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national progress
  • Actively engaged in social or educational activities at any level
  • Open to professionals, NGO leaders, and community leaders who share the forum’s values
