Internship Overview
The Administrative & Communication Associate intern will provide essential support to the Child Protection Section, focusing on administrative tasks and communication efforts. This role is designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience in a dynamic international organization, contributing to the protection and advocacy of children’s rights in PNG.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administrative Support
- Assist in organizing logistics for events such as International Children’s Day, Family Week, and workshops with partners like the PNG Council of Churches.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and phone calls, ensuring timely communication with partners.
- Maintain and update both physical and digital filing systems to ensure accurate record-keeping.
2. Communication and Workflow
- Facilitate communication between the Child Protection and Communication Sections to enhance operational efficiency.
- Draft and edit communication materials, including reports, meeting minutes, and internal documents.
- Support the development and dissemination of information related to child protection initiatives.
3. Event Planning and Logistics
- Coordinate logistics for capacity development activities and conferences, including liaising with facilitators, caterers, and participants.
- Prepare background materials for participants and ensure they are accessible through appropriate channels.
- Maintain agendas and documentation for meetings and events related to child protection commitments.
4. Travel and Supplies Management
- Assist staff with travel arrangements, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Monitor and update inventory of administrative supplies and office equipment.
- Arrange for the purchase and timely distribution of office supplies as needed.

Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or a recent graduate (within 2 years of degree completion).
- Academic Performance: Strong academic record as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or a reference letter from an academic supervisor.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
- Relatives: Applicants should not have immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office or in the line of authority to which the intern will report.

- Letter of Verification: From the college or university confirming current enrollment and expected graduation date.
- Official Transcript: Showing excellent academic performance.
- Identification: Copy of a valid ID.
- Recommendation Letter: One signed letter of recommendation on official letterhead or from a professional email address.
