About Conciliation Resources
Conciliation Resources (CR) is an international organization that has been dedicated to building lasting peace in conflict-affected areas for over 30 years. We focus on fostering peace by leveraging shared experiences to strengthen peacebuilding policies and practices globally, working with both local and international partners in conflict-impacted contexts.
Gender at Conciliation Resources
At CR, we firmly believe that gender equality and justice are crucial to sustainable peacebuilding. We also recognize that everyone impacted by violent conflict, regardless of their gender or identity, has the right to be a part of shaping the peace that follows.
Our commitment is outlined in the Gender Strategy: Towards an Inclusive and Transformative Peace (2023 – 2028), which aims to integrate gender-responsive and gender-transformative approaches to our peacebuilding work. We take an intersectional approach, acknowledging how various systems of inequality intersect and shape individuals’ experiences in conflict. Our global research and programs focus significantly on Women, Peace and Security (WPS).
Job Purpose
The Gender and Peacebuilding Advisor will play a critical role in implementing CR’s Gender Strategy, providing guidance to our program teams and partners in developing and delivering gender-responsive and gender-transformative objectives.
This position will also provide contextual advice on integrating gender into conflict analysis, program design, funding proposals, and project execution. Additionally, the advisor will identify gender-specific funding opportunities and develop concepts for peacebuilding initiatives focused on gender.
Scope and Accountability
The Gender and Peacebuilding Advisor will be part of CR’s Research, Advisory and Policy (RAP) department, responsible for cross-organizational research, learning, advocacy, and technical support to program teams and partners.

The advisor will primarily support programs in the Horn of Africa, Central Africa, and West Africa, where CR is leading several strategic projects. These initiatives, funded by donors such as Global Affairs Canada, the French Embassy, and the EU Foreign Policy Instrument, focus on gender-responsive or gender-transformative deliverables.

- Facilitate gender-sensitive conflict analysis, ensuring programs are tailored to the unique gendered dynamics of the conflict context.
- Deliver training and capacity-building initiatives to program teams and partners on gender and peacebuilding.
- Develop partnerships with local, national, and international organizations, strengthening CR’s gender work and expanding the network of collaborators.
- Contribute to the development of policy recommendations and lead advocacy efforts focused on gender and peacebuilding issues.
Essential Qualifications:
- A strong understanding of peacebuilding, gender, and inclusion.
- At least five years of experience providing advice and guidance to teams and partners on integrating gender and inclusion into peacebuilding programs, particularly in conflict-affected areas.
