The Global AgriInno Challenge 2025 invites youth innovators, agri-tech entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from around the world to participate in a groundbreaking competition aimed at transforming agrifood systems through digital technology and sustainable solutions.
This competition seeks to advance climate resilience, supply chain efficiency, and nutritional security by leveraging emerging technologies and digital public infrastructure. Winners of the challenge will have the opportunity to pitch their innovations at the Science and Innovation Forum in Rome in October 2025, a prestigious global event hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
About the Challenge
The Global AgriInno Challenge 2025 is part of a global movement to drive sustainable change in food and farming systems. The challenge calls for the development of cutting-edge digital solutions aimed at improving agrifood systems’ sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience. By harnessing the potential of digital technologies, participants will help bridge critical gaps in climate resilience, supply chain efficiency, and nutritional security, aligning their solutions with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
Challenge Theme
The 2025 challenge is centered on the theme:
“Harnessing emerging technologies and Digital Public Infrastructure for sustainable agrifood systems: Advancing climate resilience, supply chain efficiency, and nutritional security.”
This theme underscores the importance of leveraging innovative technologies to create scalable and impactful solutions that address pressing challenges in the agrifood sector. Participants are encouraged to develop solutions that are not only sustainable but also inclusive, addressing the needs of smallholder farmers, marginalized communities, and rural populations.

Innovation Coaches and Selection Board
The challenge will be supported by a diverse group of mentors and jurors who bring a wealth of expertise from across academia, business, government, and international organizations. This includes experts from the FAO, Zhejiang University, and top global investors specializing in agri-tech and digital innovation.
Selection Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Innovation: Solutions should demonstrate a strong alignment with the challenge theme, utilizing emerging technologies in innovative ways. The solutions should be accessible and inclusive, with a focus on smallholder farmers and marginalized groups.
- Market Potential & Economic Value: Projects will be assessed for their scalability, profitability, and market entry potential. Judges will also evaluate the ability of the innovation to generate economic opportunities, such as employment or investment.
- Social, Environmental Impact & Sustainability (ESG): Solutions should demonstrate their potential to improve livelihoods, promote sustainability, reduce food loss or pollution, and contribute to climate resilience and social inclusion.
- Project Team: Teams will be evaluated on their operational capacity, relevant experience, technical skills, and commitment to diversity and gender equity.
How to Apply
To participate in the Global AgriInno Challenge 2025, individuals and teams must submit their agrifood systems innovation online. The submission process involves providing detailed information about the project, including a description of the technology, its impact, and its alignment with the challenge theme.
No separate application is required to apply for seed funding, as all participants will automatically be considered for this benefit.
