Position Overview
KMC is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Laboratory Sampler to join its operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, preparing, and maintaining samples for analysis in the mineral processing laboratory. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, which are vital for the company’s quality control and production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample Collection: Collect slurry and process water samples from designated areas within the processing plant according to approved methods.
- Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for analysis, including drying, crushing, grinding, and sieving, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain sampling equipment, such as riffle splitters and sample crushers, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records of sample collection and preparation, ensuring proper chain-of-custody documentation.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and quality control procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaboration: Assist laboratory technicians with basic analytical tasks as required and report any sampling irregularities or anomalies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Background: National Certificate or Diploma in Chemical Sciences, Mineral Processing, or a related field.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in mineral sampling or a similar role within the mining industry.
- Technical Skills: Proven knowledge of mineral sampling theory and best practices. Experience with sample preparation equipment is advantageous.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is a plus.
