Rate: $6,250–$8,250/month (commensurate with experience)
Start Date: July 2025

Mighty Ally is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Strategist to join its purpose-driven team. As an independent contractor, the Senior Strategist will play a critical role in shaping and guiding client projects using Mighty Ally’s Fundable/Findable Framework.

The role is fully remote, with a focus on organizations from the Global South, particularly those in Africa, and requires the ability to work within two hours of East Africa Time.

Mighty Ally is a nonprofit hybrid organization with a focus on growth and early-stage social sector organizations. Its mission is to maximize funding and advance social justice through a combination of consulting, training, and field-building. By employing the Fundable/Findable Framework, Mighty Ally helps nonprofits develop strong brands and strategies that attract funding while advancing social justice.

At its core, Mighty Ally works to decolonize development by prioritizing the voices and needs of local organizations in the Global South. The team is intentionally small and founder-led, maintaining an international perspective to guide social justice organizations toward greater impact.

Mighty Ally’s 10-year target is to guide 5,000 bold brands that will impact 500 million people, providing crucial support and strategy for nonprofits working toward social change.

About the Role: Senior Strategist

The Senior Strategist will collaborate closely with the founding partner to guide organizations through the Fundable/Findable Framework. This role requires someone with deep strategic experience and the ability to provide high-level insights and recommendations that shape the future of growth-stage nonprofits.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deep Client Engagement: Analyze clients’ brands, extract opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Facilitate Workshops: Lead and facilitate client leadership workshops, offering input and sector-specific expertise.
  • Deploy the Framework: Use the Fundable/Findable Framework to craft deliverables, including theories of change, messaging platforms, and pitch decks.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct desk research and qualitative analysis to inform brand strategy and identify industry trends.
  • Coaching Support: Assist client teams in implementing strategies through ongoing coaching sessions.
  • Travel for Relationship Building: Travel to client locations to build relationships and gain firsthand insights.

About You:

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned strategist with a passion for social change and a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector, especially for growth-stage organizations.

  • Exceptional Communicator: Lead workshops and craft clear, compelling strategies and stories.
  • Strategic Thinker: Synthesize complex information and generate actionable insights.
  • Empathetic Listener: Collect and incorporate feedback to craft strategies that reflect diverse perspectives.
  • Self-Starter: Proactive and solution-oriented with a bias toward action.
  • Team-Oriented: Thrive in a collaborative, high-performing, and fast-paced environment.
  • Relationship-Building: Committed to developing strong relationships with clients and the team.

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in strategic roles, either internally or as a consultant.
  • Deep understanding of growth-stage nonprofits and the funding landscape.
  • Expertise in brand-building, communications, or fundraising.
  • Experience leading teams and managing contributors such as copywriters, marketers, or fundraisers.
  • Proficient in the Google suite and familiar with design platforms like Canva.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools strategically for efficiency and innovation.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Based in the Global South, with a preference for candidates from Africa (living within two hours of East Africa Time).
  • Driven by a deep sense of social justice: “As long as poverty, injustice, and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest.”
