Program Launch: June 16, 2025

Application Deadline: May 21, 2025

Welcome to the official application portal for the Global Women in Clean Energy Fellowship Program, offered by RMI’s Energy Transition Academy (ETA). We are thrilled that you are interested in joining a dynamic, impactful, and transformative initiative aimed at empowering women across Africa’s clean energy landscape.

This innovative program is designed for early- to mid-career women professionals in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Zambia who are actively engaged in clean energy initiatives. Whether you’re a project manager, engineer, policy advisor, entrepreneur, or community leader—if you are driving or aspire to drive change in the energy sector—this fellowship is for you.

Program Overview

The Global Women in Clean Energy Fellowship is a 5-month, fully virtual learning experience beginning on June 16, 2025, and concluding in October 2025. The fellowship is structured to build both technical capabilities and leadership competencies, enabling participants to lead with confidence and vision in the clean energy transition.

Key benefits of the fellowship include:

Technical Training in Distributed Energy Resources (DERs):
Gain practical and foundational knowledge in clean energy technologies, including solar microgrids, battery storage, and distributed power systems, relevant to local and national contexts.

Leadership and Project Management Development:
Build your skills in program planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, budgeting, and communication—critical to leading successful clean energy initiatives.

Mentorship from Global Experts:
Connect with experienced professionals in the global energy sector. Mentorship will provide you with guidance, career insights, and support to grow in your professional journey.

Capstone Project:
Develop a practical, context-specific project that addresses a real-world energy challenge in your community or country. This may focus on policy, technology, business models, or community outreach.

In-Person Leadership Accelerator (Optional):
Select fellows will be invited to participate in a 3-day in-person Leadership Accelerator in November 2025, which offers hands-on leadership training, peer learning, and strategic planning in a collaborative environment.

Time Commitment and Format

The fellowship is designed to be flexible and accommodating to your professional responsibilities, while still offering deep, engaging content:

  • Total Monthly Commitment: ~15 hours
  • Live Sessions: Biweekly (1.5 hours each)
  • Self-Paced Learning Modules: Approximately 3 hours per week
  • Capstone Project Development: Integrated throughout the fellowship
