Selection Process

Steps in the Selection Process:
- Apply for Admission to Miami University: Applicants must submit their application through the Common Application by 11:59 p.m. on December 1. Indicate your interest in both the Honors College and the Presidential Fellowship Program during the application process.
- Initial Application Review: The Office of Admission conducts a comprehensive review of all applications. Students demonstrating the highest levels of academic excellence and leadership potential will be considered for the next stage.
- Invitation to Finalist Weekend: A select group of applicants will be invited to participate in the Presidential Fellowship Program Finalist Interview Weekend, typically held in early spring. This invitation-only event includes interviews with the scholarship selection committee, opportunities to meet faculty and current fellows, and learn more about Miami University.
- Final Selection: Following interviews and committee review, a final cohort of Presidential Fellows will be selected and notified.

How to Apply
To be considered for the Presidential Fellowship Program, follow these steps:
- Complete the Common Application for Miami University by December 1. Make sure to:
- Indicate your interest in being considered for the Honors College.
- Select the Presidential Fellowship Program option.
- Submit Required Materials, which may include:
- High school transcripts
- Standardized test scores (optional, per Miami’s test-optional policy)
- Letters of recommendation
- Personal essay(s)
- Await Notification: Finalists will be contacted in January and invited to the interview weekend.
Important Note: Only applicants who complete all steps and indicate interest in both the Honors College and PFP by the deadline will be eligible for consideration.
