Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), a nonprofit focused on advancing solutions to poverty through rigorous research and evidence-based policy, is looking for a Digital Engagement & Content Manager to lead the development and execution of content strategies and digital engagement initiatives across multiple platforms.
This role is critical to shaping IPA’s global communications efforts, including donor, partner, policymaker, and researcher engagement.
Position Overview
As the Digital Engagement & Content Manager, you will create and manage engaging content, while building strong, multi-channel communication strategies.
You’ll combine creative storytelling and strategic digital communications to increase awareness and engagement, ultimately advancing IPA’s mission of improving the lives of people living in poverty. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex research into accessible, audience-focused content.
Key Responsibilities
40% – Content Strategy & Creation
- Develop and execute comprehensive content strategies for all digital platforms, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with IPA’s mission and brand voice.
- Write, edit, and manage high-quality content for IPA’s website, blog, monthly newsletter, and social media.
- Collaborate with the research, communications, and philanthropic partnership teams to transform complex research findings into engaging, understandable content for various audiences.
- Create multimedia content (photos, videos, infographics) that supports storytelling and enhances engagement.
- Maintain an editorial calendar and coordinate content production across global teams.
20% – Digital Engagement
- Lead the social media strategy and manage IPA’s presence on platforms such as LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and YouTube.
- Plan and execute organic social media campaigns that align with strategic communications priorities.
- Oversee blog writing and reviews, ensuring adherence to IPA’s writing standards and guidelines.
- Manage website content updates, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Monitor social media engagement metrics to optimize content strategies and improve campaign performance.
20% – Philanthropy Support
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy and Partnerships team to create compelling content for fundraising campaigns and donor engagement, including annual campaigns.
- Assist in the development of targeted content that promotes IPA’s mission and attracts new donors.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in digital communications, content management, or a similar role, ideally in research, international development, or academic organizations.
- Proven Success: A strong track record in developing successful content strategies and engagement campaigns.
- Writing & Editing: Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Social Media Management: Experience with social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and proficiency in tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite for content creation.
- Project Management: Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
- Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse global teams and time zones.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Nonprofit or International Development: Experience working within the nonprofit, academic, research, or international development sectors is highly valued.
- Language Skills: Additional language skills (French and/or Spanish) are a plus.
- Video Production: Proficiency in video editing and production skills is a plus.
