Organizational Overview
The FAO’s Office of Evaluation (OED) is an independent entity responsible for evaluating the effectiveness and impact of FAO’s work. OED provides evidence-based insights to inform decision-making processes, ensuring that FAO’s strategies align with its mission to achieve food security and sustainable agriculture worldwide.
Role Summary
The Evaluation Support Specialist will play a pivotal role in enhancing FAO’s self and decentralized evaluation processes. This position involves developing comprehensive guidance, coordinating support systems, and ensuring quality assurance across evaluations conducted by FAO’s decentralized offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Guidance Development: Review and update existing evaluation guidance to align with FAO’s Evaluation Strategy 2023–2025, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
- Support Systems Enhancement: Assess and improve current structures supporting self and decentralized evaluations, identifying gaps and implementing solutions.
- Capacity Building: Determine the learning needs of stakeholders and design tailored training programs to strengthen evaluation capabilities within FAO.
- Quality Assurance: Provide oversight and quality assurance for evaluations, ensuring adherence to FAO’s standards and methodologies.
- Coordination: Manage the workplan for self and decentralized evaluations, monitoring progress and resource allocation to meet organizational objectives.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in social or life sciences or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in conducting evaluations, with a strong understanding of evaluation methodologies and practices.
- Language Proficiency: Full proficiency in English (level C).
