The CBK Internship Programme is a structured 12-month initiative that offers graduates a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional environment. Programme Objective

The core objective of the CBK Internship Programme is to:

  • Develop and prepare young graduates for the labor market.
  • Provide a platform for graduates to gain hands-on experience in central banking and other relevant fields.
  • Offer interns a structured pathway to refine their career aspirations, expand their knowledge base, and build meaningful networks with peers, mentors, and professionals in the banking and finance sectors.

While the programme does not guarantee employment at CBK, it equips interns with the skills and exposure needed to pursue career opportunities within the wider banking and financial services industry.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CBK Internship Programme 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be Kenyan citizens aged between 21 and 29 years at the time of application.
  • Have graduated with a first degree or master’s degree in any of the following disciplines from a recognized university:
    • Finance, Economics, Statistics, Banking, Accounting, Microfinance
    • Human Resources, Management, Social Sciences, Communications
    • Information Technology or related fields
  • Have graduated within the last 24 months from the closing date of this advertisement.
  • Must not have previously participated in an internship or gained any form of work-related experience in their area of study since graduation.
  • Provide a recommendation or reference letter from the university or institution of higher learning attended.
  • Be in possession of valid medical insurance coverage from the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) or a recognized medical insurance provider for the duration of the internship.

Important Notes

  • Participation in the internship programme does not lead to employment at CBK. However, individuals who successfully complete the internship are eligible to apply for open positions at the Bank when advertised.
  • Selected interns are required to complete the full 12-month programme without interruption to maximize learning and development outcomes.
  • Incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified.
