About the NGFP Fellowship

The NGFP Fellowship offers a unique and transformative journey for young professionals and emerging practitioners from around the globe. We aim to bring together individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 who are at the beginning stages of exploring futures and foresight, as well as those over 35 with less than one year of experience in the field. This fellowship is designed for people who are eager to learn, collaborate, and drive meaningful change.

Foresight is not about predicting the future; it is about understanding the present and the trends and factors that could shape the future. It’s a systematic approach to engaging with uncertainty and exploring alternative futures, including aspirational ones. By utilizing foresight, individuals and organizations can build resilience, agility, and enhanced competitiveness, helping them to better respond to emerging threats and seize new opportunities.

Foresight practitioners use a futures-oriented approach to inform their work, examining long-term drivers of change and considering how different futures may evolve. This helps to generate insights that can guide decision-making in the present.

The Fellowship Opportunity

The NGFP Fellowship is a one-year journey designed to support emerging practitioners, foster collaboration, and provide opportunities for deep learning. Each fellow will receive a USD 1,000 kick-start fund to support their project and a chance to win a USD 10,000 grand prize at the end of the fellowship year for making significant progress and contributing to the wider NGFP community.

The fellowship includes:

  • USD 1,000 project kick-start fund to support the development of your foresight-related project.
  • A platform to connect with like-minded individuals from across the globe who share your passion for futures and foresight.
  • A project partner, typically an expert in the foresight field, to guide and mentor you throughout the fellowship.
  • Introductory training in foresight, designed to help you build your skills and enhance your understanding of the field.
  • Bi-weekly updates with news, opportunities, and resources, including information about grants and other funding opportunities for your changemaking projects.
  • The chance to participate in regional or thematic hubs that focus on specific areas of futures and foresight.
  • Access to key events and projects within the futures and foresight community.
  • The opportunity to compete for the USD 10,000 grand prize at the end of the fellowship year based on your contributions and progress.

Who Should Apply?

  • Young professionals between 18-35 years old, or individuals over 35 with less than one year of experience in futures and foresight.
