Internship Overview:

The UNAIDS Internship Programme offers a valuable opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience in the field of international development, HIV/AIDS, and global health policy. The internship is open to individuals enrolled in a degree program or recent graduates (within 12 months of graduation) and provides hands-on learning in a dynamic, international environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of UNAIDS’ programs and initiatives.
  • Assist with research, data analysis, and documentation related to HIV/AIDS and global health policies.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials and reports.
  • Provide support for team coordination and project management.
  • Assist with outreach efforts and engage with partners and stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Education: Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate degree program at a recognized institution (within the past year).
  • Languages: A working knowledge (both oral and written) of at least one of the following official UNAIDS languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish.
  • Age: Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application.
  • Gender and Diversity: UNAIDS actively encourages applications from women, persons living with HIV, and nationals from non- and under-represented countries.

Stipend:

A stipend may be offered to candidates who are not already receiving financial support from other sources to help cover living expenses during the internship.

Contractual Terms and Conditions:

  • Skills Required: Applicants should have:
    • Ability to work effectively in teams and collaborate towards common objectives.
    • Clear communication skills in both discussions and presentations.
    • Initiative, organizational skills, and time management to deliver quality results.
    • Ability to innovate and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Family Eligibility: Immediate family members (parents, siblings, children) of UNAIDS staff members are not eligible for this internship program.
