Leuphana University of Lüneburg, particularly the School of Management & Technology, is offering PhD scholarships in psychology to support the development of young academic talent. The scholarships are available for applicants with a focus on work, organizational, and economic psychology, or related fields such as organizational behavior, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Successful candidates will be admitted to doctoral studies starting between October 1 and December 31, 2025.
Scholarship Details
- Duration: Initial 1-year funding, extendable for up to 3 years. For candidates with children under 13 years old or dependent relatives, an additional 12 months may be granted.
- Amount: €1,650 per month, with additional allowances for children, where applicable.
- Work Restrictions: Additional professional work is limited to 8 hours per week on average across the year.
- Expectations: Recipients will pursue empirical PhD projects aligned with Leuphana’s research areas in entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and sustainable management. Active participation in doctoral programs, colloquia, and conferences is required.
- Research Output: The dissertation can be either a cumulative bundle of co-authored papers or a monograph. The project should be written in English and contribute to current international debates in psychology.
Research Environment
- Research Focus: Candidates will engage in research focused on work, organizational, or business psychology. The PhD projects should employ quantitative or mixed research methods.
- Supportive Environment: Candidates will benefit from workshops, seminars, and access to research centers such as the Center for Evidence-based Entrepreneurship Development (CEED) or the Digital Transformation Research Center.
- Supervision and Networking: PhD students will receive expert supervision and financial support for attending conferences, workshops, and research stays.
- Collaboration: Active involvement in the vibrant academic community, including participation in national and international research events.
Eligibility Requirements
- Educational Qualifications: An above-average Master’s degree (or close to completion by November 2025) in industrial and organizational psychology or a related field, along with a Bachelor’s degree (both following the Bologna process).
- Research Skills: Familiarity with quantitative or mixed research methods, typically acquired through previous studies.
- Language Proficiency: Ability to participate in English-speaking academic debates and research projects.
- Diversity Encouragement: Applicants from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply, and preference will be given to equally qualified candidates from these groups.
