Call for Applications: Capacity-Building Programme for Women Energy Entrepreneurs Energising Women to Advance the Energy Transition in the SADC Region

The Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET), in collaboration with the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE), is excited to announce the launch of the Capacity-Building Programme for Women Energy Entrepreneurs. This programme, supported by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), aims to empower women entrepreneurs in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and advance their careers in the energy sector.
About the Programme
The 6-month capacity-building initiative is designed to support women entrepreneurs or owners of energy-related businesses in enhancing their business acumen. The focus is on business soft skills training, including leadership, marketing, finance, and strategic planning. Please note that this programme does not include technical training related to energy technologies.
Key Details:
- Target Participants: Women entrepreneurs in the SADC region who own or operate an energy-related business. Preference will be given to women involved in solar thermal, energy efficiency, and the productive use of energy.
- Format: The training will be conducted virtually/online. Participants must commit to attending approximately 8 hours per month throughout the duration of the programme.
- No Capital Funding: The programme does not offer capital funding; however, it will facilitate enterprise financing by connecting entrepreneurs with potential funders.
Who Should Apply?
This initiative is open exclusively to women who meet the following criteria:
- SADC Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of a SADC member country.
- Entrepreneurship: Applicants must own or operate an energy-related business.
- Commitment: Participants should be able to dedicate 8 hours per month to the programme.
