The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is calling for exceptional candidates to apply for leadership and technical roles in its Crisis, Response, Recovery, and Development (CRRD) unit.
The IRC, a leading international humanitarian non-governmental organization (INGO), is dedicated to responding to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, working in over 40 countries to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and dignity to those affected by conflict and disaster.

The IRC is seeking national and international candidates for the following positions, which will support various Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO)-funded projects:
- Team Leader(s)
- Deputy Team Leader(s)
- Technical Expert(s)
These roles will be based in host countries, with the exact location depending on the funding opportunity. Contract type, salary, and benefits details will be provided to selected candidates on a call-down basis.
Key Responsibilities
These positions involve leading and contributing to complex projects aimed at delivering impact in Education, Health, Safety, and Economic Wellbeing within fragile and conflict-affected states (FCAS). The roles will require outstanding leadership and the ability to manage multi-faceted teams, ensuring adaptive management and program success in challenging environments.
Candidate Profile
The IRC is looking for senior professionals with the following qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
- 7+ years of experience in complex program design and delivery, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected states (FCAS).
- Experience in senior leadership roles, such as Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader, or Technical Director, in FCDO-funded projects or similar high-profile international initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage consortia of international and local partners, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of results.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and representational skills, with the ability to manage staff in a matrixed system.
- Extensive experience in adaptive management, responding flexibly to changing conditions and needs.
- Deep familiarity with working within the FCDO’s operational footprint in developing countries or fragile states.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong relationships with government officials and other stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required for all positions.
Technical Expertise (for Technical Expert roles):
- Extensive experience working on initiatives related to Education, Health, Safety, and Economic Wellbeing in both development and humanitarian settings.
- A technical background in one of the sectors above will be crucial for the Technical Expert roles, where expertise will directly influence program outcomes.
