Position Overview
Water For People seeks a dynamic Senior Manager for New Business Development in Africa. This position plays a key role in advancing the organization’s business development initiatives with institutional funding partners, including multilateral agencies, alternative funding institutions, and foreign governments.
The Senior Manager will lead the development of proposals and oversee the grants management process for the Africa region. This role will also support the Director of New Business Development and Africa Regional Director by guiding pre-positioning efforts and leveraging expertise from country and technical subject matter experts.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Proposal Management (60%)
- Collaborate with the Director, country teams, and Regional Director to drive outreach to strategic partners in line with business development strategies.
- Mobilize resources to manage proposal production, ensuring compliance, timely delivery, and high-quality submissions.
- Develop and track proposal calendars, ensuring teams understand their roles and deadlines.
- Coordinate with Country Program employees for efficient utilization of grant management systems, offering training and support.
- Manage cross-functional communications and compile knowledge management resources for institutional opportunities across all stages of proposal development.
- Ensure technical and cost proposals, along with associated annexes, are submitted in compliance with donor guidelines.
- Archive business development discussions, decisions, and lessons learned to support future opportunities.
Management of Grant Awards (10%)
- Support the coordination of internal agreement review meetings to ensure alignment with business development processes.
- Help improve the institutional repository of donor agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
Management of Grants Management System (GMS) (30%)
- Adhere to the Grants Management Process for each opportunity, inputting and updating profiles in the system.
- Analyze the functionality of the grants management system, offering recommendations for enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the seamless transition of opportunities from proposal development through to reporting and closeout.
- Develop and enforce protocols for organizing, storing, and sharing key business development documents on SharePoint.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, including proposal management and institutional funding.
- Strong understanding of grants management and compliance.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders at various levels.
- Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in or with teams across multiple regions.
