The Recruitment and Selection Process

The recruitment process for becoming a Teach For Kenya Fellow is designed to identify individuals who possess the qualities, skills, and passion needed to make a meaningful impact. It is a rigorous multi-stage process that allows us to thoroughly assess your capabilities and suitability for the Fellowship.

Stage 1: Application Registration The first step in the process is to complete the application registration. During this stage, we will review your background information and verify your eligibility based on the criteria outlined above. This will help us ensure that you meet the fundamental requirements to proceed to the next stage.

Stage 2: Online Assessment If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will receive an email inviting you to complete an online assessment. This assessment will include:

  • A Critical Thinking Test: This will assess your ability to think analytically, solve problems, and make well-informed decisions.
  • Essay Questions: You will be asked to respond to thought-provoking questions that explore your motivations, leadership qualities, and commitment to social justice. The essay portion will help us understand how your values align with Teach For Kenya’s mission and vision.

Stage 3: In-Person Assessment If you successfully pass the online assessment, you will be invited to attend an in-person assessment session at the Teach For Kenya Assessment Centre. During this stage, you will participate in various activities designed to assess your leadership potential, teamwork skills, and ability to navigate real-world challenges. This is also an opportunity for you to interact with other applicants and current Teach For Kenya staff, allowing you to gain deeper insight into the Fellowship experience.

Where You Will Be Placed

Once you successfully complete the assessment stages and are selected as a Fellow, you will be placed in one of the many underserved communities across Kenya. These communities often face significant educational challenges, and your role as a Fellow will be to teach and lead students while also engaging with the local community to address systemic issues.

Placement locations will vary depending on the needs of the communities, and Fellows may be placed in both urban and rural areas. Wherever you are placed, your work will have a profound impact on the lives of students, families, and the community as a whole.
