About Jacaranda Health
Jacaranda Health is a non-profit organization focused on improving maternal and newborn health outcomes across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Over the past nine years, we have worked closely with governments, including county health management teams and Ministries of Health, to deploy scalable, affordable solutions within public hospitals—where most underserved mothers and babies receive care. Through our work, we aim to transform the quality of care for the most vulnerable populations.
Role Overview
Jacaranda Health is seeking a talented Global Communications and Development Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in amplifying our impact by creating compelling communications around our work, data, and insights.
This is a technical and strategic role, best suited for an individual who excels at taking complex, data-driven findings and transforming them into clear, engaging stories and reports.
If you have a strong background in grant writing, strategic communications, and external relations, and are passionate about using communications to drive impact in global health, this position may be a perfect fit.
In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, technical content, including grant proposals, reports, case studies, and other critical communications.
You will help shape Jacaranda Health’s messaging to donors, partners, and global health communities, ensuring that our insights and learnings are effectively communicated to fuel the growth of our initiatives and the broader digital health and maternal care landscape.
Main Responsibilities
- Technical Writing: Documentation and Dissemination
- Develop in-depth documentation, including briefs, toolkits, playbooks, case studies, and research summaries, that communicate Jacaranda’s findings and data-driven insights on technology design, development, quality assurance, and research activities.
- Support the dissemination of these documents within global health communities, task forces, and development media platforms. Familiarity with these forums will be an asset.
- Funder Acquisition and Grant Writing
- Lead or support the technical write-up for grant proposals, ensuring clear, compelling presentations of Jacaranda’s work and impact.
- Identify new funding opportunities, including institutional donors, foundations, and multi-year funding sources, to support the organization’s growth and impact strategy.
- Track and report on grant progress, evaluate the effectiveness of grant outcomes, and assist with ongoing grant management.
- Routine and Informal Donor Reporting
- Develop narratives for formal and informal donor reporting, as well as quarterly and annual impact reports.
- Assist with donor engagement activities, including conferences, site visits, and informal touchpoints, to maintain positive relationships and showcase Jacaranda’s impact.
- Strategic Communications and External Engagement
- Support Jacaranda’s presence in global dialogues on digital health, AI, and maternal and newborn health by contributing to global communities of practice, digital innovation networks, and related working groups.
- Prepare presentations, narrative storytelling pieces, and talking points for funder meetings, global convenings, and public speaking opportunities.
- Facilitate partnerships and foster knowledge-sharing with peer organizations, research institutions, and funders.
