Are you passionate about driving meaningful change in South Africa’s public sector? Join the New South Institute as our Advocacy Officer to lead critical reforms in public service professionalisation, anti-corruption, and governance.
As an Advocacy Officer, you’ll play a central role in shaping public sector reforms and strengthening South Africa’s public institutions. You’ll be responsible for developing and executing advocacy strategies, engaging with government stakeholders, organising policy dialogues, and amplifying messages about reform efforts across various platforms. This is a unique opportunity to directly influence the future of South African governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocacy Strategy: Develop and implement effective advocacy strategies to promote public sector reforms in professionalisation, anti-corruption, and governance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, policymakers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and foster collaboration on reform initiatives.
- Policy Dialogues: Organise and facilitate discussions, seminars, and dialogues that bring together diverse actors to discuss policy reforms and governance improvements.
- Public Communication: Amplify advocacy messages through various platforms, including media outlets, social media, and other communication channels to increase public awareness and support for reform initiatives.
What You’ll Bring:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Policy, Governance, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in advocacy, policy engagement, or communications, preferably within the public or non-profit sectors.
- Expertise: A deep understanding of South Africa’s public administration systems and governance issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and convey complex ideas clearly.
