Overview
IMPAC’s social enterprise, Knowledge for Impact, is seeking a highly skilled Sustainability & Data Analyst to join their team and help develop analytics that will enable users to evaluate, monitor, measure, and achieve their sustainability goals. The users of these tools range from businesses, civil society organizations, and governments, to donors, regulatory bodies, and small-scale producers and traders in mining and agricultural sectors.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and deployment of impact and sustainability frameworks, systems, and tools that are aligned with industry standards and social impact goals. This position is ideal for a professional who excels in results-based management, data analysis, and visualization, and has a strong passion for making a positive contribution to social sustainability challenges.

Primary Responsibilities
The Sustainability and Data Analyst will be responsible for the following key tasks:
- Developing and Deploying Strategies
- Design strategies to measure progress towards key social sustainability impact areas, including living income, living wage, gender empowerment, and human rights.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the effective use of data, reports, and tools to support these sustainability goals.
- Supporting Partners
- Provide training and presentations to partners—including companies, civil society, and government stakeholders—on how to use tools, interpret reports, and analyze sustainability data.
- Building Dashboards
- Develop visually engaging dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, and other visualization platforms to show progress towards sustainability targets.
- Providing Technical Leadership
- Lead the extraction and analysis of data, addressing business problems, and identifying automation opportunities to streamline sustainability tracking and reporting.
- Estimating Costs
- Develop processes to estimate the cost impacts of achieving sustainability goals and score products based on sustainability metrics.
- Day-to-Day Partner Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for social sustainability Key Performance Indicator (KPI) measurement and provide ongoing support to ensure targets are met.
- Collaborative Leadership
- Work cross-functionally with different teams and organizations to identify intersections between social and environmental impacts, ensuring a holistic approach to sustainability.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must demonstrate how they meet the following essential qualifications and skills:
- Experience and Expertise
- At least 5 years of experience in a highly quantitative data analytical role, preferably in international development, business analytics, or sustainability.
- Proven track record in project management and effective teamwork, ideally in multi-disciplinary, multi-functional, and multicultural environments.
- Experience in working with non-technical stakeholders to deliver technical solutions and sustainability insights.
- Technical Skills
- Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Metabase.
- Proficiency with Excel and other relevant data analysis software.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Communication and Leadership
- Strong influencing and communication skills to explain complex scientific concepts related to sustainability to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to simplify complex data and present clear, executable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage complex projects to meet deadlines.
- Language Proficiency
- Fluency in English is required; strong verbal French skills are also essential for effective communication in the organization’s working environment.
