The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is committed to eradicating poverty and hunger through initiatives aimed at improving food security and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
In line with its mission, FAO seeks to recruit six (06) Field Facilitators to support its Climate Resilience and Humanitarian Response (BRAVE) program in Pakistan, a key component of the program aimed at building resilience and addressing vulnerabilities to climate-related emergencies in the country.
These positions are part of the BRAVE (Building Resilience and Addressing Vulnerability to Emergencies) program, which is a collaborative effort involving multiple UN agencies and international NGOs. This program will be implemented in 14 districts across Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan, with FAO focusing on Sujawal (Sindh), Sohbatpur (Balochistan), and Muzaffargarh (Punjab).
About the Role
The Field Facilitators will play a crucial role in the success of the BRAVE program. These individuals will work closely with project managers and other technical teams to strengthen local district committees for disaster risk preparedness and response. They will mobilize smallholder agriculture producers to pilot climate-resilience nature-based solutions for protecting fragile ecosystems and enhancing the capacity of vulnerable communities to adapt to climate-related shocks.
The selected candidates will be responsible for the facilitation of community-led activities, ensuring that all stakeholders are actively engaged in the process of climate resilience building, disaster risk reduction, and social protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Identification and Community Engagement: Facilitate the selection of target union councils, villages, and beneficiaries based on validated criteria. Ensure active community participation in the development of climate-resilient agricultural models.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Support the planning and execution of data collection exercises such as studies, assessments, and validation efforts related to climate resilience and agricultural systems transformation.
- Capacity Building: Facilitate the formation of committees and teams within the community, ensuring that stakeholders are equipped with the skills and knowledge to engage in integrated farm planning and develop village-level and district-level climate-resilience plans.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Organize peer-learning forums, workshops, and partnerships to ensure the integration of diverse viewpoints and expertise in the project. Provide platforms for local actors to engage in collaborative learning and knowledge exchange.
- Documentation and Reporting: Continuously document and share multimedia content (videos, photos, success stories) through project-managed social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, to ensure that learning and progress are shared across the communities and with other stakeholders.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor the progress of community activities and report on the outcomes, ensuring that the project is aligned with its intended goals and objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in natural resources management, environmental sciences, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in ecosystem-wide governance and management, particularly in climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, or sustainable agriculture.
- Language Skills: Working knowledge of English; familiarity with local languages is highly desirable.
- Nationality: Must be a national of Pakistan.

- Experience in UN or international organizations’ policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- A demonstrated track record of successfully managing similar assignments or programs in rural or climate-vulnerable settings.
