The Schwarzman Scholars Program invites aspiring global leaders from across the world to apply for its prestigious one-year master’s program in global affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Who Should Apply?

The Schwarzman Scholars Program seeks candidates who demonstrate:

  • Exceptional academic performance and intellectual curiosity
  • Proven leadership capabilities in academic, professional, or civic contexts
  • A commitment to understanding and bridging cultural differences
  • Interest in public policy, economics, international relations, business, or a related field
  • Strong English language proficiency
  • Applicants must have earned an undergraduate degree prior to enrollment in August 2026.

All academic disciplines are welcomed, and there is no requirement for Chinese language proficiency.

A Comprehensive Application Process

Applicants must submit a detailed and reflective application that captures their academic achievements, professional experiences, and leadership qualities. The process is divided into several key components:

1. Personal Information : Basic biographical and demographic details.

2. Education History: Academic records from all post-secondary institutions attended.

3. Language Skills: Evidence of English proficiency, with standardized test scores if applicable.

4. Leadership Roles, Awards & RecognitionA summary of honors, awards, and leadership positions held.

5. Professional Experience A complete résumé or CV including internships, employment, and volunteer work.

6. Essays Applicants are asked to submit carefully crafted essays that highlight personal motivation, leadership vision, and commitment to global service.

7. Recommendations: Three letters of recommendation that attest to the applicant’s academic aptitude, leadership potential, and interpersonal strengths.

8. Disciplinary Action: Disclosure of any academic or legal disciplinary history.

9. Additional Information: Optional section for further personal context.

Selection Process

The selection cycle consists of a comprehensive review followed by interviews conducted by distinguished leaders in business, politics, academia, and the nonprofit sector.
