BehanBox, a women-led, mission-driven newsroom in India, is seeking a Community and Campaigns Manager to lead editorial projects and amplify its mission of gender equality through impactful journalism. The ideal candidate will bring energy and creativity to the role, connecting with readers, supporters, and partners to drive change for a gender-equal India.
BehanBox’s journalism focuses on documenting the lives, histories, and desires of people often invisibilized by the complex systems of society. Moving beyond reporting, BehanBox seeks to build a community of allies, readers, and change-makers committed to its mission. As the Community and Campaigns Manager, you will take the organization’s work from the newsroom to the wider world, driving engagement and forging powerful connections.
Role Overview
- Position: Community and Campaigns Manager
- Location: Remote
- Salary: Up to 7.2 Lakhs Per Annum (depending on experience)
- Start Date: Immediately

Key Responsibilities
- Building and Growing the Online Community:
- Understand and engage with the BehanBox audience across multiple platforms including the website, social media, and other digital channels.
- Actively manage online communities through reported features, newsletters, social media posts (including reels and live discussions), and more.
- Continuously review engagement analytics to iterate and improve outreach strategies for better community building.
- Driving External Outreach and Partnerships:
- Develop and implement strategies to create external partnerships with advocacy groups, government bodies, and legislators.
- Ensure that BehanBox’s work creates impact by amplifying it through relevant offline channels.
- Innovating Editorial Distribution:
- Plan and execute campaigns around BehanBox’s editorial offerings, such as events, stories, workshops, and other initiatives.
- Ensure that editorial content resonates with the audience and drives community engagement.
- Working with BehanBox’s Extensive Story Archive:
- Utilize both new and existing content to make stories accessible and relevant to diverse audiences.
- Deliver fresh insights and compelling narratives across different platforms, ensuring that BehanBox’s work remains dynamic and engaging.
- Representing BehanBox to the World:
- Cultivate strong relationships with current and potential partners who align with BehanBox’s mission of gender equality.
- Oversee efforts to enhance the visibility of BehanBox, including submissions for awards, handling inbound requests, and representing the organization in key conversations.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a newsroom, social development sector, media content creation, or marketing role.
- Proven experience in campaign ideation and copywriting, as well as a track record of executing successful campaigns.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in managing social media platforms and channels like Substack, including planning and curating stories.
- A passion for networking and building relationships, both online and offline.
- An ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions that enhance community engagement.
- A strong commitment to BehanBox’s mission of driving gender equality and amplifying underrepresented voices.
