Overview:
Dalberg Research Ltd is seeking an experienced and dynamic Research Manager to join its Primary Research Team in Nairobi. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, execution, and analysis of research projects, providing valuable insights through qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
The Research Manager will also lead and manage client relationships, ensuring that project deliverables are met and that the team delivers high-quality research outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management & Client Relations:
- Lead the day-to-day management of multiple client accounts, acting as the primary point of contact for these accounts.
- Proactively manage and fulfill client expectations, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining strong, professional relationships.
- Research Design & Execution:
- Deliver expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including focus group discussions, key informant interviews, ethnography, observational research, longitudinal studies, monitoring and evaluation, and quasi-methodology research.
- Design research tools (e.g., questionnaires, surveys, and evaluation frameworks) and methods, ensuring they align with client objectives and research goals.
- Business Development:
- Collaborate with the Primary Research Manager and Research Director to identify new business opportunities within existing and potential clients.
- Lead proposal and concept development to help grow the research services and policy market offerings.
- Resource & Budget Management:
- Plan and manage resources efficiently, including overseeing financial budgets for research projects.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze, interpret, and report both qualitative and quantitative data to derive actionable insights.
- Produce reports and presentations that guide client decision-making processes, ensuring clarity and impact in the final outputs.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead a team of junior researchers, providing guidance on project management and training in research methodologies.
- Encourage professional growth and foster development among staff, particularly in emerging areas of research technology.
- Workshops & Collaborative Sessions:
- Take part in or lead workshops and collaborative sessions aimed at analyzing research findings and developing meaningful conclusions.
- Process & Documentation:
- Ensure thorough documentation of processes, maintaining accountability to client expectations and upholding ethical standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Continuous Learning:
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in research technologies and methodologies, and integrate innovative approaches into project execution.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Professional Membership: Current membership or accreditation with a relevant national or international professional body.
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in research, including 2 years at a supervisory or managerial level, with demonstrated experience in managing large-scale research projects.
- Research Skills: Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including hands-on experience with research design, analysis, and data interpretation.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint), SPSS/SAS, NVivo, and experience with web analytics and project management tools.
- Project Management: Strong experience in managing end-to-end research projects, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle budgets effectively.
- Client-Facing Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, manage expectations, and deliver clear, impactful research findings.
- Ethical Standards: Commitment to upholding high levels of integrity and adherence to professional ethical codes throughout project execution.
