The Afara Initiative is looking for a dynamic and visionary Team Lead to oversee The Bridge Program, a transformative leadership accelerator tailored for high-potential university students who are committed to creating meaningful and lasting change across Africa.

About The Afara Initiative

The Afara Initiative is a mission-driven non-profit organization dedicated to equipping underserved post-secondary graduates and university students in Nigeria with the skills, resources, and networks they need to excel in leadership and professional careers. Through specialized leadership development and career acceleration programs, the initiative has set an ambitious goal of positively impacting the lives of over one million young people by 2034.

About The Bridge Program

The Bridge Program (TBP) is a prestigious and highly competitive leadership fellowship designed to prepare young African leaders for impactful careers in various industries. The program provides participants with a structured learning experience that combines:

  • A four-week, in-person immersive bootcamp focusing on leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Six months of blended learning that integrates virtual and in-person training sessions with industry experts and mentors.
  • Three months of hands-on experience through real-world projects and internships that bridge the gap between education and employment.
  • Ongoing career transition support and leadership development to help fellows secure meaningful roles in their respective fields.

Role Overview: Team Lead, The Bridge Program

The Team Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Bridge Program’s vision, ensuring that it continues to attract, develop, and support emerging African leaders. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing admissions by managing the selection process and identifying high-potential candidates.
  • Driving program delivery by designing and implementing engaging and impactful learning experiences.
  • Facilitating post-program transitions by supporting participants in securing internships, employment, or further leadership opportunities.
  • Building and managing alumni engagement to foster a strong network of past fellows who continue to drive change.
  • Leading immersive bootcamps and mentoring fellows to strengthen their leadership capabilities.
  • Establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, organizations, and mentors.
  • Innovating and enhancing program structure to ensure continuous growth and relevance in an evolving landscape.

This is an exciting remote opportunity for a passionate and strategic leader who is eager to make a tangible impact on the next generation of African changemakers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Admissions Management – Oversee the selection process, develop admissions materials, and support outreach efforts.
  • Program Innovation and Delivery – Lead bootcamps, update curricula, manage logistics, and use data-driven insights to enhance program impact.
  • Post-Program Pathways – Establish career tracks in Public Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Leadership, while building partnerships with industry leaders.
  • Alumni Engagement – Strengthen the alumni network and provide professional development opportunities.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Four to seven years of experience in Program Management, Project Management, or related fields (preferably in the Ed-Tech or Non-Profit sectors).
  • Strong understanding of African education systems and youth development.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership, communication, and partnership-building skills.
  • Ability to manage operations, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and work in a fast-paced environment.
