Position Summary:
The Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures (RJEF) at Cornell University seeks an independent and highly motivated postdoctoral associate to conduct collaborative research aimed at advancing visions of just futures where all people can thrive. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams, particularly faculty from the social sciences and humanities, as well as community partners. The position will begin on August 1, 2025, but the start date is negotiable. While initially a one-year appointment, there is potential for reappointment for a second year based on available funding and successful performance.
Responsibilities:
The postdoctoral associate will contribute to research projects across various topics, with tasks including:
- Producing research synopses and literature reviews for center-based projects.
- Supporting data collection and management efforts.
- Analyzing data and producing reports, policy briefs, and other public writings.
- Developing infographics and visualization tools to share findings.
- Conducting archival and qualitative research.
- Engaging in center initiatives, including attending events, collaborating with racial justice fellows, and leading reading groups or seminars.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. by the start of the appointment (August 1, 2025).
- Strong research skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Candidates from humanities and social sciences are encouraged to apply.
- No teaching responsibilities are included in this position.
Supervision:
The postdoctoral associate will be supervised by Drs. Neil Lewis, Jr. (Associate Director) and Jamila Michener (Director). Regular meetings will be held to guide and support the candidate’s work. The postdoc will also collaborate with faculty and the center’s advisory team.
