The International Olympic Committee (IOC) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Olympic Games and promoting the Olympic Movement on a global scale. As the guardian of the Olympic Games, the IOC is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the Games and the Olympic properties. The organisation serves as a catalyst for cooperation between diverse stakeholders, including athletes, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Sports Federations (IFs), Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), and Worldwide Olympic Partners. Additionally, the IOC collaborates with public and private authorities, including the United Nations and other international organisations, to further the values and goals of the Olympic Movement.

Key Responsibilities of the Youth Olympic Games Athlete Education Programme Project Coordinator:

As the Youth Olympic Games Athlete Education Programme Project Coordinator, your role will be central to the delivery and management of the Athlete Education Programme for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Dakar, Senegal. You will coordinate and support various components of the programme, working closely with the IOC and local stakeholders to ensure that it provides athletes and their entourages with meaningful, impactful educational experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Coordination of the Athlete Education Programme:
    • Oversee the delivery of the education programme for athletes and their entourages at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026.
    • Work within the IOC to ensure the successful execution of activations and content that comprise the Athlete Education Programme. This programme aims to educate athletes on Olympic values, personal development, and life skills beyond sports.
  2. Liaising with Stakeholders:
    • Act as the primary point of contact between internal and external stakeholders for the local implementation of the programme.
    • Collaborate with the Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (YOGOC) to plan daily athlete education activities, including cultural activities, to enhance the athletes’ experience in Dakar.
  3. Logistics and Resource Management:
    • Coordinate the delivery of athlete education spaces and facilities within the Youth Olympic Village, ensuring the areas are designed effectively and equipped with all necessary materials.
    • Work closely with IOC departments and external agencies to manage resources, including the shipment of materials and coordination of external contractors.
  4. Digital Education Tools:
    • Support the development and implementation of the YOG digital education tool (PinQuest), designed to engage athletes digitally in the lead-up to and during the event.
    • Assist in promoting and delivering e-learning opportunities to athletes and their entourages in collaboration with International Federations (IFs) and National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
  5. On-Site Operations:
    • Ensure the smooth on-site operations of the Athlete Education team during the YOG in Dakar 2026, which will include managing the necessary resources for the Youth Olympic Village and scheduling educational activities.
    • Coordinate with the YOGOC to determine the number of volunteers needed and develop onboarding, training, and information packs for both volunteers and team members.
  6. Olympic Agenda 2020+5:
    • Contribute to the implementation of Olympic Agenda 2020+5, specifically focusing on Recommendation 3, which aims to enhance the involvement of athletes in the development and execution of Olympic projects.
  7. Additional Duties:
    • Assist with the planning and delivery of engagement projects aimed at Olympians, elite athletes, and their entourages, ensuring support from youth sport levels to life after sport.
    • Help coordinate meetings with key stakeholders, both internal and external, ensuring clear communication and smooth collaboration.
    • Perform everyday administrative tasks such as preparing reports, handling correspondence, managing expense forms, and organizing documents.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Educational Requirements: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, or professional experience deemed equivalent.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in the sports industry or in a related field. Experience in project coordination, educational programme management, or event planning would be an asset.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English or French is essential, with a high level of proficiency in the other language.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
