GIWPS Expands Team with New Staff Positions in Research and Policy

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security (GIWPS) is excited to announce the expansion of its team with the addition of several key staff positions. As the institute continues to grow, it is seeking highly qualified individuals dedicated to advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda through impactful research, policy advocacy, and engagement. These positions offer unique opportunities to contribute to GIWPS’ mission of promoting a more peaceful, equitable, and just world by elevating women’s roles in conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

Research Fellow: WPS Index

GIWPS is seeking a Research Fellow to lead the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Index, a core element of the institute’s expanding research portfolio. The Research Fellow will play a critical role in advancing the WPS Index and conducting both quantitative and qualitative research to inform a variety of GIWPS research outputs.

Reporting to the Director of Research, the Research Fellow will be responsible for managing and conducting in-depth research, analyzing data, and producing policy-relevant findings. The fellow will also engage in disseminating research results through media engagements, academic conferences, and multilateral forums, ensuring that GIWPS’ findings reach key stakeholders in policy, academia, and the broader public.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in quantitative research methods, deep expertise in Women, Peace, and Security issues, and strong project management capabilities. Additionally, the candidate should be proficient in communicating complex research findings to a wide range of audiences. The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $85,000. Hillary Rodham Clinton Research Fellow

GIWPS is also offering a one-year fellowship opportunity for recent PhD or master’s level graduates interested in conducting policy-oriented research in the Women, Peace, and Security field. The Hillary Rodham Clinton Research Fellowship provides an excellent opportunity to engage in high-level research while contributing to GIWPS’ conflict monitoring initiatives, including the WPS Conflict Tracker.

The selected fellow will be responsible for undertaking a research program aligned with GIWPS’ strategic objectives, producing policy papers and briefs that contribute to advancing the WPS agenda. The fellow will collaborate with GIWPS staff and engage with key stakeholders, including policymakers, academic institutions, and multilateral organizations.

Fellows should have a working knowledge of the WPS agenda and related international frameworks, with a focus on U.S. and global policy. The fellowship offers an annual stipend of $65,000, plus benefits. Applicants must be in their final semester of an advanced degree (PhD or master’s) or have completed their degree within the last three years. Preference will be given to Georgetown University alumni. Applications are accepted through Interfolio.

Graduate Research Assistant

GIWPS is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant for the summer, offering a valuable opportunity for a Georgetown University graduate student to contribute to the institute’s work in advancing the WPS agenda. This position will focus on supporting the partnership between GIWPS and Our Secure Future, an initiative aimed at advancing the goals of the WPS agenda through collaborative research, communications, and event coordination.

The Graduate Research Assistant will assist with a variety of tasks, including research support, content creation, and organizing events that promote the institute’s mission. This position offers a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the intersection of research, policy, and practice in the field of Women, Peace, and Security.
