Starting date: Mid May 2025
Duration: 6 months (Monday-Thursday, 32h/week)
Location: The Hague (Netherlands), with possibility to work from home 2 days per week.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note that this is an internship position and you will receive a stipend of 500 EUR per month. Travel to the office is reimbursed separately. You must be a legal resident of the Netherlands or a citizen of the EU. We unfortunately cannot sponsor a work permit/visa. As a legal requirement, you need to be already registered or be able to register in the Netherlands with a BSN (Dutch registration number). The age preference for this position is between 20 and 29. You also need to have access to a personal computer and secure internet connection.

About UNOY Peacebuilders
UNOY is a youth-led network of over 120 youth-led organisations in over 70 countries working towards more peaceful societies. We embrace values of peace, diversity, inclusion, and participation. At UNOY, young people have the opportunity to gain work experience in the field of peacebuilding, join an international team, develop new skills, and connect with young people and organisations around the world. All interns are supported by a supervisor in identifying their personal learning goals, training opportunities, and monitoring progress throughout the internship.

As the intern – Advocacy Officer, you will work under the direct supervision of the Advocacy Coordinator.

Your responsibilities will include:

Regional & National Advocacy:
● Supporting the work of three regional advocacy teams;
● oordinating communications to support the implementation of the team’s strategy, and providing logistical support for the implementation of an advocacy mission happening this year.
● Supporting the implementation of advocacy initiatives on the regional and national levels led by UNOY members;

● Supporting UNOY’s work in the EU Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Coalition and the EU level;
● Updating and developing UNOY’s advocacy resources.

Global Advocacy:
● Supporting the coordination of the Global Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security (GCYPS);
● Attending meetings of different task forces and working groups within the GCYPS;
● Supporting the coordination of the GCYPS Working Group on Climate;
● Support with the organisation and facilitation of joint events with partners;
● Assisting with the debrief of our members after high level representation activities and frequently updating the representation tracker and sending out the representation survey.

Programmatic support:
● Supporting the Advocacy and Protection Coordinator with advocacy and internal planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL);
● Supporting the development of UNOY’s overall advocacy portfolio;
● Supporting with the creation of new resources for young peacebuilders;
● Following thematic discussions on climate and other relevant issues.

Note: Task allocation and priorities are indicative and may shift based on internal organisational needs.

We are looking for somebody who has:
● Experience or a strong interest in peacebuilding and youth work;
● Excellent intercultural communications, analytical, organisational and multitasking skills;
● Previous experience with advocacy is an asset;
● Familiarity with YPS agenda is an asset;
● A higher education degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) in peace and conflict, international relations and related fields. We also welcome candidates who are in their last year of undergraduate degree;
● Fluency in English. Working knowledge of French, Spanish or Arabic is a plus;
● Enthusiasm, commitment, and leadership;
● Experience in qualitative data analysis and carrying out interviews is an asset;

● Self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and capability to work independently and in a team.
