The Generation Equality Intern position at UN Women in Nairobi, Kenya, offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in gender equality advocacy, program management, communications, and administrative support.

Responsibilities:

  1. Program and Administrative Support:
    • Assist the Regional Project Coordination Specialist in program management and implementation.
    • Conduct research, gather data, and compile information.
    • Draft reports, talking points, website articles, and social media content.
    • Support the coordination of events, webinars, and procurement processes.
  2. Learning Goals:
    • Enhance understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
    • Develop skills in communications, events management, and the operational aspects of UN Women work.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Enrollment in or recent graduate of a graduate degree program in communications, journalism, gender studies, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Competencies:
    • Demonstrable knowledge of gender equality issues.
    • Ability to develop content for websites and social media.
    • Familiarity with graphic software (Canva, Adobe Illustrator) is preferred.
    • Strong IT skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Languages:
    • Proficiency in English (written and oral); working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Renumeration:

  • Interns will receive a stipend to partially cover living costs if they do not receive financial support from other sources.

Additional Information:

  • All applicants must submit a signed P.11 form and relevant documentation.
  • The internship requires proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan and a valid passport/national ID.
